Terms and Conditions

Purchaser Responsibilities and Communications The following conditions are required to ensure that both you as the purchaser, and Sarah Keight as the facilitator and/or supplier, can operate efficiently and maintain a good working relationship. Sarah Keight will liaise with the purchaser and share all appropriate information in advance, please do get in touch if you have additional questions. Booking Activities and Confirming Dates All dates provisionally booked will be held for a period of seven days. If there are other enquiries for these dates during the initial seven days, then the original purchaser will be given first refusal. Booking confirmation via the website or in writing via email must be received within the initial seven days to secure the dates. By confirming the booking, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions. Payment is required within seven days of booking. As a small business I ask for bookings to be paid in advance to confirm the booking, if this is not possible, please get in touch for deposit options. All participants must complete the booking form Activity Consent and Acknowledgement of Risk and Responsibility, prior to attending the activity. Cancellation By You The cancellation refund policy is as follows: If you cancel more than 8 weeks prior to the course, a full refund will be issued. If you cancel between 4 and 8 weeks prior to the course, 60% of the course fee will be retained and 40% will be returned. If you cancel less than 4 weeks prior to the course, no refund will be issued. In certain situations, we may be able to work out another mutually agreeable option at the discretion of SKapades. Clients are advised to presume the above cancellation policy will apply. If SKapades offers any form of refund or transfer beyond the terms and conditions, this does not imply that the same offer will be made regarding future bookings. Cancellation by SKapades Despite best efforts, in situations such as inappropriate water levels; poor weather conditions; failure to make required numbers to meet governing body minimum ratios; if a course fails to fill to a financially viable level; or for any other unexpected circumstances, SKapades may need to cancel the course. In this situation, clients will be offered the following options: rescheduling of the course to a different date; transfer to another course; or a full refund. SKapades is not responsible for any losses or expenses incurred by the client dues to course cancellation. Paddle UK and British Canoeing Awarding Body courses For some courses formal registration with Paddle UK is required prior to the course and have set prerequisites. Meeting the criteria is the participant’s responsibility and failure to meet the criteria or to register in advance, will mean the client will not be able to attend the course. In this situation, the cancellation policy above applies, and no refund will be given. Assessments We will check the weather forecast prior to the assessment, if the conditions required for the qualification are unlikely to be met the assessment will be postponed. If we meet for the assessment and conditions are not to standard, you will still be charged for the day to cover expenses. Sarah will be happy to discuss how we can utilise the day for your development. Client ability To provide excellent courses, it is essential that clients provide an honest description of their ability level, failure to do so has an impact on the environment we are able to use, and can have a negative impact on the other members of the group. If a participant is found to have failed to provide an honest description of their ability, they may be asked to leave the course, in which case no refund will be given. Medical Conditions Prior to the course, clients will be asked to inform us of any conditions that may be relevant; to the course, your performance, safety, or may require any assistance, to allow us to prepare accordingly. Risk Mitigation Water sports and adventurous activities have an inherent danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement. All activities will be optional, with all participants able to opt-out of any aspect. *Unless performing the activity is part of a criteria for assessment. Please discuss this with Sarah if you feel uncomfortable. Sarah Keight will have performed risk assessments for the activity in advance, during the delivery of the activity Sarah Keight will perform dynamic risk assessments and make informed decisions based on her professional judgement, the environment, and the participants. All participants have a responsibility to follow instructions, wear appropriate clothes and the provided equipment. If at any time they are not happy with an instruction they should immediately discuss this with Sarah Keight. Not following specific instructions may result in the activity being curtailed and no refund. Equipment Clients are expected to provide all their own equipment for courses unless otherwise stated. This equipment must be fit for purpose and all PPE must meet European standards. Where clients present for assessment with borrowed equipment, it will be assumed that it is their own. SKapades is not responsible for loss of, or damage to any equipment you bring to the course. Where equipment is borrowed or hired from SKapades, the client assumes all responsibility for the equipment, and loss or damage to said equipment will be charged to the client at full retail price. All personal crafts used for water sports activities with Skapades must have appropriate buoyancy. Additional costs Parking and access fees, course registration, membership, camping, food and transport is not covered by Skapades, unless otherwise stated. Under 18s and vulnerable adults As a qualified teacher and having worked in residential outdoor education centres Sarah really enjoys working with young people, but at this stage has chosen not to buy/apply for an Adventurous Activity Licence for her business Skapades, therefore all under 18s and vulnerable adults must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please speak to Sarah in advance if you the participant is under 18. Medical information and next of Kin for Sarah Keight Sarah Keight carries two EpiPens. She has never gone into anaphylactic shock; they were provided as a precautionary measure after being stung by either a bee/wasp (unknown). Privacy Policy

Privacy and GDPR Sarah Keight respects client’s privacy. Any confidential information supplied will be secure and follow data protection regulations. The information provided on the booking form, and any media taken on the course is the only personal information retained. For Paddle UK courses we may be required to pass some, or all, of this information onto them, Paddles up Training, and their quality assurance team. Your data, apart from media and contact details that you have consented for us to use will be deleted after 5 years. You have the right to request we delete your data and change marketing preferences at any time, by emailing S.Kapades@outlook.com. Photos and media Throughout your course we may take video and photos, these can be an excellent method for you to analyse your own performance or keep as a nice memory of the day. On occasion, these may also be required by Paddle UK for quality assurance. We also use photos of our clients for marketing purposes if you consent to this.
